North American Beaver, Castor Canadensis

A north american beaver sits at the water's edge. Interesting to learn that they have special glands that secrete something called "castoreum" that for years was used to flavor things like ice cream, pudding, brownies etc due to the great taste and scent it gave off (similar to vanilla). Now, due to the harvesting cost of castoreum it is rarely used in food products, but only in high end perfumes and fragrances. Pretty cool stuff!
